Losing Weight On Vacations (My Secret)

by Kristina Wilds, Founder, Wellness Life Science

Most people worry about putting on weight when they go on vacation, and with good reason…

They fret because they know they’re going to be eating out. They know they’re going to be out of their normal routines.  And they fear they’re going to ruin all the good progress they’ve made. But do you know what? It doesn’t have to be this way.

In this post, I’m going to show you my 3 step method you can use to lose at least 5 Lbs… while on vacation.

Now, the three tips are pretty simple. But don’t let that fool you.  If you follow these THREE steps, I not only guarantee you will NOT put on any more weight… but you will LOSE at least 5 lbs while having an amazing time!

You ready? Let’s get into it…

STEP 1: Drink  LOADS of water!

Yep. I know you’ve heard this advice a million times. But when it comes to losing weight on vacation… WATER IS A CRUCIAL KEY. So, make sure to bring a water bottle with you everywhere you go. On the aeroplane. In the hotel. On the beach. keep it filled at all times. Not only will this cause you to be less hungry. But it will cleanse your skin. And make you feel great.

Plus, its a LOT easier to drink more water when you’re on holiday. Especially if you’re somewhere hot, where you’re often going to be thirsty.

STEP 2: Prepare your snacks (and bring them with you!)

Make sure before you go anywhere, you pack your fatty snacks. Your nuts. Your fat-packed avocado and bacon salad. Your cheese. Your celery in almond oil.  Whatever delicious healing fat foods you like.

Having your snacks with you, will make you feel confident and safe, during the day.  As it can cause a lot of anxiety, when you’re in a new place and have no idea if you’re going to able to find the foods you need.

So, make sure you have your snacks with you.  And pack extra. All your favorites. Spoil yourself. Stay happy. And FULL.

STEP 3: Check out the menu.

Eating out at restaurants is one of the best things about vacations. But can also be the most worrying. But don’t worry. Here’s what you do…

Check out the menu of any restaurant you go to. Every menu, will have a protein source on there.  Whether its fish, meat, chicken, eggs, bacon.

When you order, keep the protein your focus. Add some green veggies. Or some salad. With some olive oil. And ranch, or blue cheese dressing.  Again, simple things. That taste great.

Always remember, small changes are the key to losing weight while on vacation. No matter what restaurant you go to, there’s always something small you can change, to make the food right for you. Maybe you need to order meatballs without the pasta. Or ask them to hold the bread.

This reminds me of a story in San Diego last weekend..

I was staying at a hotel. Doing some work on the Truth About Fats. And I was starving. It was 9 o’clock at night. I’d been working all day, so I ordered room service.

I  ordered burger with extra cheese, extra bacon. And no bun and a side salad. And when the waiter came to my room. She said, “Oh my god, there’s a mistake there’s no bun.” And I said. “No its ok. That’s ok that’s how I ordered it.”

She looked at me like I was crazy. But I just smiled and laughed and said. “That’s how I eat, that’s what keeps me healthy.”

The reason I’m telling you this story. Is because a lot of people feel uncomfortable asking waiters to change their food.

So, I want to make it clear, you can ASK for what you need.

And almost ALL restaurants will be OK with your requests.   They’re used to altering their dishes to serving food to people with diabetes. Or with gluten allergies..

So, go ahead, ask for what you need. Once you’ve done it a couple of times you’ll realize it’s no big deal.

So remember, small changes… add up to BIG CHANGES.

Talk to you soon.
